Still Dreaming Performs "Unanimity" Live in Marciac

Joshua Redman is joined by drummer Brian Blade, bassist Scott Colley, and trumpeter Ron Miles for Still Dreaming, an album due on Nonesuch Records on May 25, 2018. They performed songs from the album at last year's Jazz in Marciac festival, including "Unanimity." Their performance of that song at Marciac can now be seen below. And the album track may be downloaded instantly with pre-orders of Still Dreaming in the Nonesuch Store; it can also be heard on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.

Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau Talk with PBS NewsHour, Perform from "Nearness"

Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau were featured on PBS NewsHour yesterday, the day they were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for their recently released debut duo album, Nearness. The longtime friends, collaborators, and Nonesuch Records label mates spoke with NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown about making music together, or, as the show says, "how a passion for improvisation can make beautiful music."

 

"Jazz is all about vulnerability," Redman tells Brown, "because we're improvising. We're not coming to the bandstand with a preconceived notion of what we're going to play.

Joshua Redman & Brad Mehldau's "Nearness" Nominated for Grammy Award

Nearness, Joshua Redman's debut duo album with longtime friend, collaborator, and Nonesuch Records label mate Brad Mehldau, has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS.

Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau Discuss Their Debut Duo Album, "Nearness"

Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau released their debut duo album, Nearness, on Nonesuch last week to critical acclaim. "Few records released this year better define what jazz sounds like today," exclaims the Wall Street Journal.
